Graeme Jones confirms 24 Newcastle United players available for Chelsea – Only two ruled out
Graeme Jones has taken his second pre-match media duties since becoming interim manager of Newcastle United ahead of an outside permanent appointment coming in.
The Gateshead born and bred Geordie having been in charge for the battling draw at Selhurst Park last weekend.
Now Graeme Jones faces Chelsea and spoke to the media on Friday afternoon about tomorrow’s Newcastle match.
Ahead of last Saturday’s game at Crystal Palace, Graeme Jones said about the injury / fitness situation, ‘Martin Dubravka has trained but it’s too early for him. Paul Dummett is back out running and Elliot Anderson trained individually, so we’re almost at the stage of having a full quota to choose from.’
Those three were ruled out through injury / fitness issues, whilst Jonjo Shelvey was suspended.
Ahead of this Chelsea game, Shelvey is free to play after serving his one game ban.
Now Graeme Jones has revealed great news ahead of tomorrow’s match, with indeed, an almost complete first team squad to choose from.
Out of 26 players, only two are ruled out, with the excellent news that Martin Dubravka is available at long last.
Only Elliot Anderson and Paul Dummett remain unavailable.
George Caulkin of The Athletic giving this update on Friday:
‘Graeme Jones has been chatting to the media ahead of tomorrow’s home match against Chelsea.
‘No new injuries to report: Dummett & Anderson are still missing but otherwise it’s a fully-fit squad.
‘Dubravka has now been training for “10-12 days” and is fit and available.’
Thomas Tuchel having earlier on Friday afternoon confirmed at his press conference that four first team players would miss out due to injury – Kovavic, Pulisic, Lukaku and Werner.
