Confirmed Newcastle team v Crystal Palace – Krafth, Fraser, ASM, Wilson all start

The Newcastle team v Crystal Palace has just been confirmed.

Newcastle kicking off their match at Selhurst Park at 3pm.

Graeme Jones and his team looking to bounce back from starting the season with a nightmare six defeats and three draws under Steve Bruce.

Ahead of today’s match, Graeme Jones gave an update on the injury and fitness / availability front on Friday.

Martin Dubravka is still out, following surgery for a broken metatarsal.

Paul Dummett is another who is still unavailable with his latest injury.

Elliot Anderson injured and Shelvey suspended.

The confirmed Newcastle team v Crystal Palace:

Newcastle United:

Darlow, Manquillo, Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Hayden, Sean Longstaff, Fraser, Saint-Maximin, Wilson

Krafth, Fraser

Willock, Joelinton

So two changes but not what most people were expecting in this side overall!

Looks very much as though Graeme Jones has gone with a back five and Krafth joining Lascelles and Clark in the middle of defence. Ritchie should hopefully benefit as he was definitely struggling defensively as a left-back.

No space for Willock or Almiron…

I think this team selection is screaming ‘tighten it up at the back’ and hopefully it can at least deliver on that front.

If needing / looking for a goal later on and/or more of an attacking emphasis, hopefully Jones will be quicker than Bruce in utilising the likes of Gayle, Willock and Almiron off the bench.

Gillespie, Schar, Joelinton, Lewis, Hendrick, Murphy, Almiron, Willock, Gayle

You can compare Graeme Jones’ selection to this fan’s choice of Newcastle team v Crystal Palace that we featured HERE.
