BBC Sport comments from neutrals about Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley after Wolves – Says it all

Really interesting reading through these BBC Sport comments following Newcastle’s defeat at Wolves.

The comments from neutrals especially telling.

This is what Newcastle United are reduced to under Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce.

A club that neutrals are divided on, whether to sympathise with, or laugh at, this never ending nothingness of supporting Newcastle United year after year.

The BBC Sport readers comments, mainly from neutrals, although the odd Wolves and Newcastle fan also contributing, tells you all you need to know about Steve Bruce, Mike Ashley and Newcastle United…

‘Newcastle are a great club and they deserve better than they are being given by a uninterested owner and a journey man manager.

Great to see Wolves marching up the table. Great partnership forming with Raul and Hwang. Happy days.

All the best Newcastle fans.’

‘Joke owner joke club.’

‘Fair play to the Newcastle fans, loud and proud at Molineux today.

But the Team apart from Saint Maxim, who cant be expected to create and score goals all the time, are not great in fact they dont appear to have any kind of plan neither defensively or offensively, Wolves were not great but were pretty comfortable, another 3 points onwards and upwards, Newcastle a season of struggle ahead.’

‘Saint Maxim would be a good addition to the Wolves squad in the January window.’

‘I would say there is a very good chance the bottom three right now will go down at the end of the season.’

‘Things need to change at NUFC.

– half the squad

– the manager

– the owner

We know none of that will change in time to save us. We are down this year.’

‘Newcastle can’t be saved by 3 worse teams this year.’

‘Toon, i think its their time.

ASM injury would seal a bye bye.’

‘Looks like the Bruce needs a braveheart. Hard times for Newcastle fans.’

‘Ashley would have destroyed Rangers. Feel sorry for the fans, owned by a truly abysmal human.’

‘I was at the game today. Newcastle were awful, they play too deep they are second to ball and they don’t release it quick enough on few occasions they had it.

I fear for them against the likes of City and Chelsea. With all due respect to Wolves, a Championship team would have seen off Newcastle today.’

‘Desperate season already for the toon, grim stuff.’

‘Perfect answer to suggestions that Bruno was out of his depth in the Premier League.

Candidly, he’s a breath of fresh air after Nuno’s negative tactics.

Sympathy for Newcastle, they deserve a much better owner. I hope the take-over finally happens for Newcastle. Our own one several years ago has transformed Wolves.’

‘A good win but nowhere near New Year’s Day 1990 at St James’ when Bully scored 4, ooof.’

‘Loads of Toon fans come on here every week and (rightly) complain about Ashley.

Why is a total boycott of season tickets and merchandise not organised? Strangle 40% of his income and he’ll be forced to sell. – but if 50,000 keep buying tickets he’ll keep doing what he’s doing.

It seems a bit thick to keep lining his pockets.’

‘We know how Newcastle feel (leeds fan), we’ve had bad times too, hopefully you will get a good owner and give the Geordies what they deserve soon.’

‘When you go through Newcastle’s team, it’s so uninspiring.

Wilson (when he’s fit) and Saint-Maximin are the only players of decent quality.

Newcastle keep pushing their luck by trying to stay in the Premier League on the cheap.

Steve Bruce has got to be the worst manager in the Premier League and Joelinton has to be the biggest waste of money spent on a player for a very long time if not ever.’

‘I’m just so happy Brucie never got a chance to manage the Wolves FC when his name was doing the rounds after Mad Mick left.

Good luck to the Toon.”

‘Half decent game for both teams glad of the win for obvious reasons but a club like Newcastle especially with their fan base deserve better from the owner that doesn’t deserve the support of the toon. Safe journey back home lads and lasses and from the experience of travelling to Blaydon every second week I know what a trek it is.

‘Newcastle fans do deserve better, BUT your club had what you say you need a top manager in Benitez. And you were still the wrong end of the league. Why because of poor players and lack of investment. Benitez left because Ashley refused to back him. So what do you actually expect. Bruce does love your club and with defenders that cannot defend, midfield players that lack creativity not his fault.’

‘No hard luck stories here. Newcastle didn’t deserve to win & a draw would probably have been a stretch in terms of fairness. This side is not looking good. Their manager is not looking like a guy who’s going to pull rabbits out of hats. Their owner is not looking like someone who’s going to step in decisively. Not a good year to be a Newcastle supporter.’

‘Quite sad to see the position Newcastle find themselves in. I think time is up for brucey and the lure of the club will always be tempting for someone else. Probably an ex player because the owner will want to give the fans something. Who knows who that could be?? There needs to be a massive intervention or it’s the championship next season.’
