Steve Bruce declares ‘We created enough chances to win three games’ (One would be nice…)
Steve Bruce was claiming he had been hard done by, as usual.
However, on this occasion he had some reason to bemoan his luck, though not to the kind of extent he was claiming! Again as usual.
Newcastle United did have plenty of decent chances against Watford but poor finishing and decent goalkeeping at times, meant it was a point each.
Watford had chances of their own and only VAR saved Steve Bruce and his team on 87 minutes.
Watford though look really poor and this is a game Newcastle surely needed to win, when you look at the upcoming schedule.
Steve Bruce:
“We have played well again.
“We created enough chances to win three games.
“I have got to take the positives again
“The game should have been put out of sight.
“But you can’t come here and dominate the way we did, create the chances we had and miss them.
“We nearly got punished for it at the end.
“Which would have been totally unjust in my opinion.
“Our performance was terrific.
“We have done OK of late but haven’t managed to get that first win.
“We have played very well and should have come here and won the game comprehensively.
“We were sloppy on too many occasions.
“The hardest part of the game is to score a goal, and that is a bit of mentality; you’ve got to go cold in front of goal.
“Watford were going to have some part in the game…the last five or ten minutes they caused us some problems.
“We switched off [for the Watford goal], it is something we pride ourselves on [defending from set-pieces], we knew Sarr was going to come around the back but we switched off.
