News on Thursday morning that Chris Hughton has lost his job.

At 9am Nottingham Forest released a statement (see below) saying the former Newcastle United manager had been sacked.

Chris Hughton took over at Forest on 6 October 2020 with the club rock bottom of the Championship with zero points, eventually guiding them to safety in 17th place.

This season, the one-time NUFC boss has had a dismal time and he leaves Nottingham Forest today with the club once again rock bottom, with only one point.

They have lost six of seven league matches, with only a draw at local rivals Derby giving them their only point.

The final straw was Wednesday night, as Forest lost 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough.

Sad to see it hasn’t worked out for Chris Hughton in this latest job, best of luck to him wherever he ends up next.

Nottingham Forest Official Announcement:

‘Nottingham Forest can confirm that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as first team manager.

The club would like to place on record its’ appreciation for Chris’s efforts. Chris joined the club in a difficult period for everyone in football and around the world and we thank him for the way he has conducted himself during his tenure.

Steven Reid will take temporary charge of the first team as interim head coach.

The search for the permanent successor has begun and the club will update supporters in due course.

The club would like to wish Chris all the best in his future career.’
