Alan Shearer speaks for all fans with this rant on what is wrong at Newcastle United

Alan Shearer didn’t hold back.

Newcastle United are in a total mess, yet again, and the fans have seen it all before.

Alan Shearer is of course one of those fans and now in the fifteenth year of Mike Ashley rule, the NUFC legend declaring ‘the fans deserve better.’

Newcastle United now find themselves out of the League Cup and second bottom of the Premier League, five games played in total with four defeats and that fortunate draw against Southampton.

Alan Shearer getting emotional as he declared: ‘I hate what my club is, or has become. It has been a long time now. It is a hollow and it is an empty football club. There is no hope or ambition and I’m pretty sick of it to be honest.’

No need to try and list all the things that Mike Ashley has done to reduce our club to a laughing stock but this summer has been yet another episode in that, with one specific theme.

Alan Shearer pointing out how Mike Ashley has gone for the cheaper route of giving so many existing players new contracts, then using that as an excuse not to bring in new players.

The net result is that Joe Willock is the only signing this summer and the Newcastle squad is now actually weaker than the one that ended last season. Whilst at the same time, every other club has strengthened.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand why Newcastle United are in such massive trouble yet again, especially with Steve Bruce remaining as Head Coach.

Alan Shearer speaking on Match of The Day:

“I hate what my club is, or has become.

“It has been a long time now.

“It is a hollow and it is an empty football club.

“There is no hope or ambition and I’m pretty sick of it to be honest.

“It is copy – paste – repeat, every season.”

Gary Lineker:

“What could change it?”

Alan Shearer:

“Well they give players that have been at the football club new contracts because they can’t sell them on.

“Then they have the excuse they can’t bring other players into the football club because those players are being paid a salary.

“It is cheaper to keep them on the books rather than buying other players.

“And the fans deserve better.

“Every manager has the same problems.

“As I say, it is copy – paste – repeat, every season.”
