Strange tale of Karl Darlow trying to sell his Playstation via Twitter and the reaction to it
Karl Darlow should have been at Villa Park today.
However, a bad bout of covid ruled the goalkeeper out of most of pre-season and hospitalised him at one point.
So despite the season now in full swing, Karl Darlow still working his way back to full fitness.
Just a few hours before kick-off for Newcastle against Villa, some ‘interesting’ activity on the official Twitter account of Karl Darlow:
This provoked the following responses on Twitter:
R (Villa fan):
‘You’re on 1 million plus a year you tight f.ck.’
‘I think Mike Ashley has Karl Darlow on statutory sick pay.’
Wallum (Arsenal fan):
‘Your on £25000 a week I doubt you need an extra extra £440.’
‘Surely he’s hacked or something. He’s on 20k a week why would he need to sell his ps5.’
‘Surely the Password #BruceOut should of been quite secure..’
‘Is Karl ok?’
Cillian (Arsenal fan):
‘Imagine if pogba did this…’
‘Mr darlow has a side hustle. Fair play. Ha ha.’
‘Why’s me goalkeeper trying to flog a PS5 on Twitter.’
Tony (Stoke fan):
‘This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen a millionaire put on this website.’
‘Wow poor Karl is that hard up he needs to sell his PS5, I blame Mike Ashley for not paying these poor lads enough…’
‘Is Darlow struggling on a pay if you play contract?’
‘Professional footballer on thousand pounds a week selling a PlayStation ffs. Go and donate it to a youth club or something similar in the area which will help deprived kids.’
‘Pro footy player selling a console on Twitter. Mental. Nothing wrong with it at all but just seems weird for a premiership footballer haha.’
‘Strange one. Why sell it publicly on Twitter when you can just use a proper selling site?’
‘Times are tough i guess.’
‘When you take a pay cut to sign Joe Willock.’
Jamie (Tottenham fan):
‘Premier league goalkeeper selling a ps5 first come first serve.’
‘Well I knew Mike Ashley was a c.nt but didn’t think it would come to this.’
‘My man makes 100k a month and is using Twitter as Facebook Marketplace for a PS5.
You’ve almost gotta respect it hahahah.’
Karl Darlow then replying to the football fan reaction with:
Not entirely sure what to make of this.
Has Karl Darlow been hacked?
Maybe the relative lack of surprise amongst Newcastle fans is because nothing would surprise us these days at our club…
Has anybody been successful at buying the Playstation…?
Whilst the need to abuse from some fans of other clubs is just pure Twitter, credit to some of the amusing NUFC fan responses.
