‘Steve Bruce needs to be shown the exit door at Newcastle United before it is too late’
A desperately disappointing beginning to the new football season after leading West Ham United twice at St James Park.
I honestly believe that now is the time for Steve Bruce to be shown the exit door at Newcastle United before it is too late.
As a former top defender himself, I am astounded at Bruce’s tactical ineptitude in this department.
No matter how loud the crowd, it takes more than encouragement and cajolement to get the best out of an average looking defence.
What Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence are doing in our dug-out is anyone’s guess….the obvious one being “jobs for the boys”. Graeme Jones on the other hand seems to be more clued up, as proven whilst on recent England duty….but I can’t help feeling that he is being undermined in his current efforts to get a tune out of the Magpies.
Lets face facts, Steve Bruce is never going to be accepted by the Geordie fans, not least because of his former Mackem and Manc allegiances in the past.
Surely with two court hearings pending within the next five months that could determine the future of Newcastle United, the least Mike Ashley should be doing is to try and safeguard his assets and investment (if we could ever really call them that).
I’m sure that compensation for Steve Bruce and his acolytes would be money well spent in the short-term. I am also positive that we would be able to secure a better manager on perhaps a one year rolling deal that would suit the current circumstances surrounding everybody concerned, possibly working closely with a proper Geordie….Graham Jones.
Before I get accused of a knee-jerk reaction, I would like to point back to the despair we all felt after that atrocious surrender against Brighton at the Amex at the back end of last season.
Three to four months on and my faith is being tested to the hilt once again, by a manager not fit for purpose in the EPL. I would have liked to have stated “trust and faith” but I don’t trust the insincere Steve Bruce one iota.
Get ready for more excuses and players being thrown under the bus in the ensuing months if Bruce remains. As I have said before, self-preservation is this man’s only mantra.
Without necessary and swift action, Newcastle will stumble from one crisis to another this season. Now is the time to get rid….even if Newcastle United have to pay for the pleasure.
