Young Newcastle United stars beat Darlington 3-1 – Watch all the goals here

A very satisfactory workout for 22 of Newcastle’s young up and coming stars.
The visitors playing two completely teams in each half.
This was actually the Newcastle United Under 23s second match, after the the unscheduled one last Sunday at Harrogate.
Originally, Steve Bruce was splitting his first team (with Under 23s supplementing the two sides) over two games at 2pm last Sunday but after Karl Darlow tested positive for the virus, to avoid mixing the two dressing rooms, the Newcastle first team played at York whilst the NUFC Under 23s took on Harrogate.
Up against a League Two side, the Newcastle United youngsters did well, only going down 2-1 in the end.
On Saturday though they bounced back with a deserved win at Darlington in front of a 700 crowd.
In the 38th minute Newcastle taking a deserved lead, a very good solo run and finish by Tom Allan (watch the goal below).
Five minutes after half-time the Quakers drew level when a scramble from a set-piece ended up in the back of the net, difficult to see exactly who got the final touch but it looked like an own goal.
The eleven players introduced at half-time by the Magpies eventually got United back in front with 10 minutes left on the clock.
An excellent pass from Rosaire Longelo played in Dylan Stephenson who slid the ball past the Darlo keeper.
As Darlington pressed for the equaliser it was Newcastle who scored again, the final seconds of the contest seeing this time Joe White supplying the pass to Dylan Stephenson who grabbed his second goal.
Final score Darlington 1 Newcastle 3, with the Under 23s getting a very decent result, Darlington play in the National League North, the same division as York (and, Gateshead, Spennymoor…) who the NUFC first team lost to last Sunday.
