We asked NUFC fans – England win Euros or Newcastle United Takeover? Stunning result after votes counted
The question we were asking NUFC fans on Friday was: ‘Would you choose England win Euros or Newcastle United Takeover completed?’
A simple question but was it an easy one to answer?
Are there ever any easy answers when you are a Newcastle United fan?
After 14 years (and counting) of Mike Ashley, Newcastle supporters desperate to see the back of an owner who has been an absolute disgrace in how he has treated both club and fans.
For this past year and a half or so, the carrot has been dangling, ambitious rich potential new owners in waiting and Mike Ashley already having agreed to sell to them.
Only problem has been the Premier League passing the change of ownership but legal moves in July lead us to hope that at last a Newcastle United Takeover can at last become reality.
Then you have England.
These Euros have been such an uplifting experience for so many people, the tournament as a whole and especially England’s contribution, five wins and a draw with only one goal conceded, only the final against Italy on Sunday stands now between the country and glory.
The end of 55 years of hurt and as well as a brilliant football moment for England fans, it would be a perfect beacon of hope and pride as we all are desperate to emerge finally from these virus affected times and return to some kind of morality.
So Newcastle United fans, what was your choice if just one of these can happen, England Euros glory on Sunday or an NUFC Takeover completed before the 2021/22 Premier League season kicks off in five weeks time?
The results are now in…
91.2% Newcastle United Takeover happens before new season kicks off
8.8% England win Euros on Sunday
I was sure that the NUFC takeover would win, though not so sure it would have been quite so overwhelming.
Only around one in twelve of the Newcastle fans voting, going for the ending of 55 years of national hurt.
Instead, the 11 out of 12 favouring ending 14 years (and counting) of Mike Ashley hurt, in the hope of with new ambitious owners ending the current 52 years (and counting) of no trophy for Newcastle United and currently no domestic trophy for 66 years, never mind the 94 years since NUFC won the league (top tier)…
Thank you to everybody who took the time to vote.
