We asked fans where Newcastle will finish this (2021/22) season – Very interesting results

The question we were asking NUFC fans on Wednesday was: ‘As things stand, where do you think Newcastle United will finish in the 2021/22 season?’

So we asked fans to forget about what might or might not happen ahead of the season kicking off.

Or indeed by the time the transfer window ends.

Simply thinking about how they feel as things currently stand.

Mike Ashley the owner.

No Newcastle United takeover.

Steve Bruce as Head Coach.

Not a single new signing.

Not a single sale (not sold Wilson, Dubravka, Almiron, ASM etc).

Fans set to return to St James Park, though waiting for final confirmation.

Asking supporters to rate where they think Newcastle United will finish in the 2021/22 season, based on what they see in front of them…

THE RESULTS

(All percentages to nearest whole number)

1% Top

0% Second

0% Third

0% Fourth

0% Fifth

0% Sixth

0% Seventh

0% Eighth

0% Ninth

0% Tenth

0% Eleventh

1% Twelfth

2% Thirteenth

3% Fourteenth

4% Fifteenth

9% Sixteenth

23% Seventeenth

25% Eighteenth

21% Nineteenth

13% Twentieth

I think we are seeing a pretty clear message here…

A massive 59% fans voting, currently thinking Newcastle United will be relegated.

Then if you add in the vote for seventeenth, it is 82% believing it is a bottom four finish.

When you average the voting out, the overall view ends up with Newcastle United relegated in 18th position.

You always get some jokers on these kind of polls and that was enough to get a 1% vote that Steve Bruce will lead us to Premier League glory this season.

Then in the real world, there weren’t enough votes to add up to 1% in any position from second to eleventh.

Obviously we all hope that this season will turn out ok (whatever that means as a Newcastle fan…) but what is clear is that so far, NUFC supporters have been given no reason for any real optimism in the next ten months or so ahead of us.

Just a thought…but making one or two credible signings might help.
