Newcastle United fans to be allowed into friendly – Opposition club confirm in Friday update

Some much needed positivity for Newcastle United fans on Friday afternoon.

Confirmation that they are to be allowed into one of the pre-season friendlies.

York City had announced last week that it would be home supporters only, no Newcastle United fans, for the friendly on Sunday 18 July.

With Harrogate Town expected almost certainly to follow with a similar message, as they play NUFC same time and same date, one day before the hoped for opening up from remaining covid restrictions on Monday 19 July.

Now on Friday, Doncaster Rovers have confirmed (see below) that Newcastle United fans will receive an allocation for the match on Friday 23 July, in exactly three weeks time.

Their Keepmoat Stadium has a decent capacity of around 15,000, so hopefully a fairly healthy allocation for Newcastle United fans.

Newcastle United pre-season friendlies:

Sunday 18 July – York City away (2pm)

Sunday 18 July Harrogate Town away(2pm)

Friday 23 July – Doncaster Rovers away (7pm)

Tuesday 27 July – Rotherham United away (7pm)

Friday 30 July – Burton Albion away (7.45pm)

Saturday 7 August – Norwich home (2pm)

Doncaster Rovers Official Announcement:

‘Ticket details for Rovers’ pre-season friendly against Premier League side Newcastle United at the Keepmoat Stadium on Friday July 23 (7pm kick-off) have been confirmed.

Tickets for this game will be available as follows:

Monday July 5 – 2021/22 Season Ticket Membership holders (no season ticket seats will be held in, due to social distancing rules)

Wednesday July 7 – General sale

This game will be all ticket and all areas will be socially distanced allocated seating.

Tickets will be sold with social distancing between all groups so not all seats will be available and if purchasing online, you must only buy in full blocks.

Any seating showing online are blocks of seats, do not leave spare seats. Where seats have not been purchased in full blocks, the Box Office will exchange the tickets before allocating.

Newcastle United will sell tickets for away supporters.’
