Mike Ashley hiding behind takeover saga is no excuse for this Newcastle United mess
Well the moment I’m sure we have all been waiting for has arrived…no Mike Ashley hasn’t left I’m afraid.
Nor has 52 years of hurt ended for all Newcastle United fans awaiting their team winning a trophy again come.
Sadly and rather disgracefully, we are the last club standing in the Premier League to yet sign a single player in the transfer window.
How dare Champions League holders Chelsea leave us in the lurch like this and carry the flame alone…
I’ve read and heard all the excuses going by members of the media as to why Mike Ashley will not sanction any money to be spent in the transfer market.
We have been promised he would win his case and the takeover would go through, he did after all last month tell the interested parties in buying the club, to get all their money together ready to complete the transaction once and for all.
As we know though, it hasn’t happened. The season tickets went on sale, a few season tickets got sold and than everything takeover-wise has just got delayed, funnily enough.
How unfortunate indeed.
Let’s all blame the Premier League and the corrupt big six for ruining our summer and keeping us Newcastle fans miserable as sin for another year longer.
Mike Ashley may well be at long last a willing seller, and maybe he’s not this time around pretending to try and sell the club, as an excuse for a lack of investment into the club. I have though no sympathy what so ever for the man, he created this mess Newcastle United finds itself in.
Newcastle United fans do not deserve this sham of a club Mike Ashley has created, nor the injustice and contempt shown by the Premier League who are supposed to be looking after Newcastle United and it’s fans best interests.
The reality though, is that it looks clear that the most passionate and loyal fans in the country mean absolutely nothing to Mike Ashley and the Premier League.
We as Newcastle fans are partially responsible for what has happened in the last 14 years too. We have stood by collectively as a fan base and allowed this pathetic excuse of an owner to get away with what he’s doing, year in, year out.
It may be easy for me to say this, as a man from south west Wales who doesn’t live in Newcastle and wouldn’t have the luxury of being able to go to a game on any particular weekend anyway. I say it though as I see it.
I’ve been lucky enough to see 10 away matches in my time supporting Newcastle United. I would still like to go to St James Park one day obviously, as it is though I’d rather fly up to Newcastle and have a walk around the city and take in the local culture and enjoy a few pints, than be a hypocrite and pay my hard earned money and give it to Mike Ashley.
I’m fed up of the same old story every single season. I hadn’t even realised the new Premier League season was kicking off in just two weeks time…
I’d like to look forward to the season starting again, not dread it. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying it.
I refuse to accept that we are the only club that’s skint.
