Mike Ashley asks Newcastle United fans to be patient when queuing for season tickets today

There are only 20 days to go until Newcastle United kick off their Premier League campaign and Mike Ashley has today put season tickets on general sale.

Existing season ticket holders (from the 2019/20 season) had been given until 5pm on Friday 23 July 2021 to renew their tickets.

Now it has been opened up to the masses…

Mike Ashley and his minions putting out the official announcement (see below) and declaring ‘Due to the anticipated demand, supporters are urged to buy online or telephone and not in person at the Box Office at St. James’ Park. Online and phone sales will also be busy, so supporter patience is appreciated.’

Interesting to see of course just how many Newcastle United fans will be at St James Park on Sunday 15 August clutching their new season tickets. Mike Ashley of course benefiting from the fact that those who remain on the long-term season ticket arrangement and pay by direct debit, are already committed to the following season long before the previous season ends, with a number of payments already made before you even know for sure which division NUFC will be playing in.

On this occasion Mike Ashley has already had full payment long ago from most of those on the direct debits, with those supporters unable to attend during the Covid restrictions.

Fans of course waiting for final confirmation that as previously announced, the intention is to allow full capacity crowds at Premier League stadiums.

Difficult to see as things stand, there being any capacity crowd at St James Park again whilst Mike Ashley remains. As the sales talk in the announcement below sums up…

The big selling points put forward by Mike Ashley and friends appear to be…

Steve Bruce’s side finished last season strongly and will be looking to carry on where they left off in the new campaign.’

‘The pandemic has meant many loyal fans have been unable to attend St. James’ Park for well over a year…’

‘The players can’t wait you have you back.’

Obviously Mike Ashley and friends have forgotten to mention ‘ambition’, ‘great new signings’ and so much ‘exciting football’ to look forward to.

Outside of the family enclosure the cheapest adult season tickets are priced at £600 and for under 18s it is from £174.

A personal decision for all fans whether to go or not BUT one thing we can all agree on, Mike Ashley not exactly making it an easy decision for many to go along and watch NUFC as things stand…Steve Bruce in charge and we are now on day 48 of the transfer window and not a single signing, or indeed seemingly any effort made to try and bring better players in.

No mention though from Mike Ashley yet as to when he will be handing out the free half season tickets during the upcoming season…

Mike Ashley / Newcastle United Official Announcement – Monday 26 July 2021:

‘Season tickets for Newcastle United’s 2021/22 Premier League season are now on general sale.

Steve Bruce’s side finished last season strongly and will be looking to carry on where they left off in the new campaign. They open the season at home to West Ham United on Sunday, 15th August and you can see the Magpies’ full fixture list here.

Ten thousand supporters were present for the final home game of last term, a 1-0 win against Sheffield United, but the pandemic has meant many loyal fans have been unable to attend St. James’ Park for well over a year – and the players can’t wait you have you back.

A season ticket covers every league home game and also gives supporters priority for away matches.

The club has frozen season ticket prices at the same rates as the 2019/20 season, while the discounted 18-21 age group category has been expanded to include Category 2 seating. The full price list is here.

Buy your season ticket here or call 0344 372 1892.

Due to the anticipated demand, supporters are urged to buy online or telephone and not in person at the Box Office at St. James’ Park.

Online and phone sales will also be busy, so supporter patience is appreciated.

For existing 2019/20 season ticket holders who emailed the Box Office about renewals in recent days and included their supporter number – the club have held your seat and will be in touch in due course.

You can but your 20201/22 season ticket here or by calling 0344 372 1892.’
