Miguel Almiron gives new update on injury situation

Newcastle United fans have been waiting to hear what the injury situation was regarding Miguel Almiron.

On Monday 28 June) when making his sixth start in three and a half weeks for Paraguay, Miguel Almiron collapsed to the turf clutching the back of his left thigh.

Miguel Almiron helped from the pitch in tears with what looked a bad injury, the only update we’d had since then was that it was a ‘muscle edema’ injury and there was definitely no chance of him playing in last Friday’s (2 July) Copa America quarter-final against Peru when Paraguay were knocked out in his absence.

Now however, Miguel Almiron has been talking to media in Paraguay.

The Newcastle star not only giving an injury update but also his plans this summer regarding whether or not a move away from NUFC is on the cards.

ABC Cardinal reporting Miguel Almiron and his injury update:

“I’m already working, every morning I do physio, I’m recovering very well.

“The injury was nothing serious.

“Thank God there was no break or anything.

“From the moment I had the injury, Newcastle contacted me and wanted to know the seriousness of the injury.

“When the scans came out they sent me the jobs I could do.

“There have been no contacts with other clubs, I am very well in Newcastle, I am very happy there.

“Now I just think about recovering.

“In the Premier we have 38 games and I also have the Copa América or other national team games, but it’s work and what I like to do.

“Against Peru the group made every effort, they played well. The game changes…I don’t want to use the referee’s issue as an excuse, but those things change the game

“We want to qualify for the World Cup, my dream is to play a World Cup, we know what we have to play for in the national team”

“As a group we are very united, we are very strong.”

A big relief then and hopefully we will see Miguel Almiron in pre-season preparations back on Tyneside sooner rather than later.
