Newcastle United could be set to make Axel Tuanzebe their first signing of the 2021 summer transfer window.

An exclusive from The Telegraph has revealed that talks have already taken place between the two clubs.

The newspaper stating that Newcastle United and Manchester United have discussed both a loan deal and a permanent transfer.

Axel Tuanzebe turns 24 in November and after just four Premier League starts last season, it looks like he needs to find another club.

Only 10 PL starting elevens in his entire career, the central defender now faces even more competition at Old Trafford with Varane looking set to sign for Man Utd.

Steve Bruce actually signed Axel Tuanzebe on loan in January 2018 for the second half of the 2017/18 season, then again for the 2018/19 season. After Bruce was sacked, Dean Smith came in and sorted the mess that the now NUFC Head Coach had left behind, getting Villa promoted that 2018/19 season with Axel Tuanzebe starting 27 Championship matches as they went up.

Axel Tuanzebe can play right back as well as central defence and Newcastle United could certainly do with added pace and youth in the middle of defence to complement the current options that are available.

It is day 48 of the summer transfer window and Newcastle one of only two Premier League clubs, along with Chelsea, who are still yet to sign a single player.
