10 questions for Steve Bruce press conference

I am looking forward to this next Steve Bruce press conference.

The NUFC Head Coach has maintained complete silence throughout the summer, speaking to no media since the aftermath of the final game of the 2021/22 Premier League season two months ago.

The start of this week did see NUFC put out a club question and answer piece with Steve Bruce.

However, predictably he wasn’t asked any of the questions that Newcastle United fans are all asking.

I have put together 10 questions for the next Steve Bruce press conference, so any journalists who happen to read this, I’m happy for you to take them forward and ask the NUFC Head Coach.

I’m assuming Steve Bruce will speak to journalists today (or Saturday?) at a press conference ahead of the friendlies on Sunday.

Failing that, you would hope at the very least the journalists (who Bruce and Ashley haven’t banned…) will get a chance to quiz Steve Bruce after the match at York. The NUFC Head Coach reported to be taking charge of that 2pm friendly kick off on Sunday, with some of his coaching staff set to be at Harrogate for that match which kicks off simultaneously.

Steve Bruce press conference questions:

Is there any serious intention of making any signings that increase the quality of the first team this transfer window?

Would you agree it is embarrassing that Newcastle are making no attempt to buy Joe Willock after his contribution last season on loan?

In the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons only six Premier League clubs conceded less goals than Newcastle United, last (2021/22) season only four PL clubs conceded more than NUFC. Why the massive decline?

Where is Lee Charnley?

Is the entire plan this season just to hope there are three teams as bad as Fulham, Sheffield United and West Brom were last season?

Why has Dwight Gayle been given a new (according to wide spread reports, three year) contract when you refused to play him last season (only four PL starts, named on bench 23 times), even when both Wilson and Joelinton were unavailable and you played with ASM and Almiron, no central striker at all?

Has Andy Carroll left Newcastle United or not?

Wilson and Willock scored 20 PL goals for NUFC last season from only 66 shots / chances. With two own goals, the entire rest of the squad only scored 24 goals. Who will score the necessary goals in the new season if no realistic investment in signings, especially with Callum Wilson injury prone?

Can you assure the fans that when Mike Ashley offers you a big new Newcastle United contract, you will turn it down and only stay until the end of the 2021/22 season (at the latest!)?

You have said you’re looking forward to capacity crowds at St James Park this season, are you for real?
