Summer transfer window opening day – Or ‘Wednesday’ as we call it at Newcastle United

The Premier League 2021 summer transfer window is now officially open.

The 20 clubs now able to sign players, as well as complete deals that had already been set up, only needing the final formal part once the window officially opened.

For the rest of the Premier League clubs, they will be no doubt desperately working to bring in targets ASAP, in order to secure the signings and give them as much time as possible to acclimatise to their new surroundings ahead of the 2021/22 season.

At Newcastle United things tend to be done a little differently.

No rush to get anything done and as Rafa Benitez repeatedly bemoaned, he would put a lot of work in to set up early deals for key targets at the start of the summer transfer window, only for Mike Ashley to refuse to sanction them.

Will things be different in this 2021 summer transfer window for watching Newcastle United fans? I would guess not.

Listed below is a summer timetable, showing important Newcastle United dates and moments to note, including three friendlies announced so far, the PL fixtures release, PL season start and finish, plus all group games for Miguel Almiron at the Copa America and for the four NUFC players at the Euros.

Hopefully in the days, weeks, months to come, we will be adding in a few other things, such as departure of Mike Ashley and confirmed takeover, confirmed signing of Joe Willock and other credible players, departure of Steve Bruce etc etc.

In the meantime, here is an idea of how quickly time will run down…

7 days until Premier League fixtures are released.

26 days until the Newcastle United squad return for pre-season training.

39 days until NUFC play their first pre-season friendly (of those announced so far).

66 days until the Premier League 2021/22 season kicks off.
