Mike Ashley allows Newcastle United to bid £1.5m for defender who could be first summer signing – Report
Now reported on Wednesday night that Dion Sanderson could be set to be the first Newcastle United signing of the 2021 summer transfer window.
The 21 year old spent last season (2020/21) on loan at Sunderland.
The central defender playing in 26 Championship matches, including 19 as a starter.
Wolves are willing to sell a player who is yet to play a single minute of first team league football for them, with currently an auction going on for the player’s permanent signature.
The Mail say that Sunderland bid £1m for Dion Sanderson which was rejected by Wolves.
However, they now report that Newcastle United have gone in with their own bid for the defender, with NUFC offering £1.5m.
The Mail saying that Wolves were looking for £2m for the defender but no update so far on whether Wolves have or haven’t accepted Newcastle’s offer.
It has been made clear that Mike Ashley will only allow loans and frees this summer, plus maybe the odd one or two bargain basement buys.
With Steve Bruce desperate to bring in a young centre-back and so little transfer cash made available by Mike Ashley. no surprise if this is the level Newcastle United are now having to pitch to, in order to potentially make a signing.
