16 Premier League 2021 summer transfer window signings so far – £100m

The 2021 summer Premier League transfer window opened on Wednesday 9 June.

We are now into the 12th day of this window and Steve Bruce had made this prediction ahead of it.

Steve Bruce: “I think what you are going to see, especially during the pandemic, is that we haven’t seen many big transfers [in January 2021] and I can’t see things changing in the summer.”

So what has proved to be the reality so far, compared to the NUFC Head Coach’s prediction?

Well, Newcastle United are doing their bit so far in attempting to keep signings and spending money to an absolute minimum, by signing nobody, even though pre-season preparations for the NUFC squad start in only 15 days time (Monday 5 July).

However, nine Premier League clubs have made at least one signing ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Watford (five new signings) and West Ham (three) have been the busiest, while Aston Villa have brought in two, with Liverpool, Palace, Norwich, Wolves, Southampton and Brentford one apiece.

That makes it over £100m already committed by Premier League clubs as we are now less than eight weeks away from the new Premier League season kicking off.

Steve Bruce was full of talk about banging on Mike Ashley’s door as loudly as possible to demand / beg for new signings and money to be spent.

Maybe he needs to be banging with a sledgehammer…
