Another Newcastle United friendly has now been reported on Thursday morning.

Two pre-season friendlies have been previously announced, last Thursday seeing Newcastle United officially confirm that NUFC would face both York City and Harrogate Town away from home on Sunday 18 July.

The official NUFC announcement explaining that the Newcastle United squad will be split in two to play the two games.

The local Harrogate Advertiser newspaper then revealed that the games were linked to Newcastle United’s pre-season training training camp, the Harrogate Town manager having told them that the NUFC squad are heading to Queen Ethelburga’s College near York, where they also went last summer.

Newcastle United haven’t as yet confirmed that training camp news but clearly it is happening.

Now another local paper has broken the news of an overseas pre-season training camp for the NUFC first team squad, plus a third Newcastle United friendly.

The Peterborough Telegraph reporting:

‘Peterborough United will play Premier League side Newcastle United in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

The game will take place in Portugal as both clubs will be on a training camp in the region at the same time. Posh hope to arrange a second friendly while they are abroad.’

No date / dates given for the friendly or training camp, so a toss of the coin as to whether this trip to Portugal for Newcastle will come before or after their more local pre-season camp near York.

Portugal of course was the stand out country on the green list of countries you are allowed to visit as of this week, though it remains to be seen what will develop in the next couple of months before this reported Newcastle United visit.
