Leicester fans with surprising comments ahead of Newcastle United match

Leicester fans, well some of them, will be at Wembley in eight days time at the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

In the meantime they are hoping to see their team take decisive steps to ensure Champions League football via a top four finish.

Interesting reading the comments from Leicester fans below, very surprising some of them.

Whilst some see tonight as a likely comfortable victory for the Foxes, others are fearing the worst.

Difficult to understand the nerves when it is third top at home to fourth bottom, a fourth bottom team with only four wins in their last twenty five matches.

Maybe the illogical nerves are all to do with last season, only four points from their final five matches seeing Leicester miss out on a top four spot.

Also interesting in the comments to see growing support for Ayoze Perez and for many, thinking he should play ahead of James Maddison.

Leicester fans commenting via their Foxes Talk message board:

‘Lose or draw this and we don’t deserve Champions League next season.’

‘We must be positive and get on the front foot from the start. Fortune favours the brave, No excuses!’

‘Maddison is way off the pace; I would prefer we started with someone else and bring him on when we are 2 up.’

‘I agree. Perez has been better playing in the hole behind Vardy/Nacho than Maddison has. I know Perez leaves a lot to be desired, but he has a higher work rate and links up a lot better.’

‘Most folks are twitchy about tonight but I think we will turn up.

Madders has to start delivering for sure.’

‘Madders has 60 minutes to prove himself, and if not get Perez on sharpish.

If he is not producing, he doesn’t have the workrate or pressing ability of Perez, which usually does create a few chances here and there.’

‘Can’t risk abandoning 5 at the back against a high-octane attacking side like Newcastle.’

‘Absolutely, that Beardsley and Cole can be a real threat.’

‘Perez MUST start he loves playing against his old club so his work rate will be at max. Madders can stew on the bench until half time then he can come on and do his magic and take all the glory. 3-0 to the foxes.’

‘I’d keep playing Maddison, he’s waaaaaaaay waaay better than Perez, he’ll only get back to form with more game time as well. It won’t happen by sitting on the bench.’

‘People forget Maddison was in pretty good form before his latest injury issues. He could turn a match in our difficult last three games if we can get him firing. Perez just doesn’t have that same potential.’

‘High tempo from the start and force Newcastle into errors.’

‘This will be a hard watch tonight, they will sit in and frustrate us I reckon.

Wilson breakaway goal we need to be careful of…’

‘Foxes 4 Toon 0, chill.’

‘The teams that struggle against Newcastle are passive teams that don’t press them. It’s no surprise that Everton and Spurs struggled against them.

Get at them and put them under pressure constantly and we’ll win comfortably.’

‘Massive game tonight, literally could dictate final position.’

‘Some over-reactions here. Southampton played well and defended doggedly – they wanted to put the 9-0 to bed. We’ve played 4 games in 12 days and looked tired, hence our sloppy passing and poor decision making during the game. We didn’t lose it either!!

We’ll be better against Newcastle. As long as we beat them I think we’ll be fine.’

‘Mike Williamson red in the 3-0 win when the great John Carver said he got sent off on purpose. Wonder if they’d prefer him back in stead of Brucey?’

‘That’s like choosing between a donkey’s kick in the left nut or the right.’

‘We have a great record vs Newcastle of late and they looked like they’re already thinking about their holidays in their last game…

Confident of a win here, and it is a must win. Huge game.’

‘I think we will lose this one.’

‘Never fear I have taken one for the team and put a tenner on a Newcastle win.’

‘If we draw or lose this game, I think it may be terminal for the rest of the season.

So I pray we turn up from the first minute and do not have to hear these post match comments we started too slow and tempo was not there blah blah blah.

Turn up lads and do a professional job. Madders you owe us one.’

‘I really cannot think of one viable excuse for not winning this match bar an unwarranted sending off’
