Arsenal fans with amusing and predictable comments ahead of Newcastle United match

Arsenal fans have been talking ahead of Sunday’s match against Newcastle United.

Some interesting comments, both about the home side and their own team / club.

These comments from Arsenal fans made at a time when they are between the two legs of a European semi-final.

Arsenal fans clearly don’t rate Newcastle United BUT for many of them they appear to be even more negative about their own team, club and manager.

An FA Cup triumph only nine months ago, a European semi-final this week, top half of the Premier League…for many fans of many other PL clubs this would be living the dream! The reaction of one of the Arsenal fans to this ‘nightmare’ situation is to claim: ‘Newcastle…the club Arsenal are in danger of becoming.’

Honestly, if Arsenal fans had experienced these 14 years of Mike Ashley at their club, just how many of them would still be going to games, or even following them from afar?

Many Arsenal fans who were determined to force Arsene Wenger out, maybe learning a harsh lesson or two. For 20 seasons in a row under Wenger, the Gunners finished ‘only’ top four and played Champions League football every season.

In contrast to the sympathetic ear that the media give Arsenal fans in their self pity, you have Newcastle fans labelled deluded and ‘what exactly is it they want?’…when they are still sitting fifth bottom of the table and  have seen only four wins in the last twenty four matches.

A quick check of stats for the Gunners and it shows they have only lost five of their last nineteen PL matches, winning nine and drawing five. Not exactly the biggest nightmare you can imagine!

Arsenal fans commenting via their Arsenal Mania message board:

‘Newcastle…the club Arsenal are in danger of becoming.’

‘Willock not playing is big blow for them, they still have the Gucci guy, he’ll tear apart if any space giving to him.’

‘Willock ineligible. There’s a chance we can win this one then.’

Willock has been saving Fathead’s bacon all season. Of course he’d like to keep him.’

‘Can see us snatch a vital draw.’

‘We will rest everyone for this.

Honestly, who cares about this…send the C team.’

‘Want to see Martinelli, Balogun and Azeez. Arteta will give us Willian, Elneny and Nketiah.’

‘It could end up the most boring game ever. both teams are sh.t.’

‘Play everyone who’s going to play on Thursday except those who are in the ‘red zone’.

They need to be kept sharp, completely missing a game can disrupt some players.’

‘Will be fun watching Almiron run around and Joelinton lumber around.

Think they are virtually safe from relegation so maybe 1-1.’

Newcastle haven’t beaten us in 15 of the last 16 games. Good thing this shadow of Arsenal and the record breaker Arteta is in town on Sunday with a gift.’

‘Is Nobby Solano still playing for Newcastle? If so we’re in trouble.’

‘Luiz, Tierney and Aubameyang need minutes ahead of Thursday. Azeez and Balogun will likely be left out so Elneny and Nketiah can get minutes.

Fully expect a dull game.’

‘I’m certain Newcastle will beat us.’

‘Another reason I hate Arteta is that I brought Martinelli in to my fantasy team after Sheffield Utd because I was sure he was going to bang them in for the rest of the league season.’

‘Newcastle are sh.te, unfortunately so are we…’

‘Newcastle…the club we are in danger of becoming.

Robert was deadly from 35 yards out. Shearer always used to stick it in the onion bag against us too.’

‘Newcastle v Arsenal was a top of the table clash in 2003…Henry scored, Robert equalized…then he got a second yellow by twice blocking a Bergkamp freekick, then absolutely smashing the ball at Lauren…Robert can count himself lucky that Lauren didn’t react 😆

He scored 2 belters against Sp**s too, even knocked one of his own teammates out with a freekick in a classic Premiership moment back in the day.’

‘Newcastle’s attack could be…

Wilson, ASM. Fraser, Almiron…you feel they should been well clear of a relegation fight with that.’

‘Respect to anyone who finds the enthusiasm to watch this.

It will be interesting to see who between Arteta, Dean, Leno and Xhaka does the most to drop points.

Dean has the most experience but the other 3 are in a stunning run of malignant form.’

‘Anyone who isn’t watching this isn’t an Arsenal fan.’

‘Of course we’ll watch. Just a bit dead on the inside you know.’

‘It is easy to make fun of Steve Bruce, but I was struck by the fondness Nicklas Bendtner mentions him in his book.’

‘All roads lead to Villarreal, so we have to be careful about who plays. Wouldn’t mind seeing Balogun feature at some point. Elneny has to start if he’s going to be playing the Villarreal game, too. Rest ESR and whoever looks like they are carrying any kind of knock. Auba will likely feature to get some match fitness.’

‘Steve Bruce on social media boycott: “I was talking with my son about abuse a referee was getting & he said ‘Dad, it’s nothing compared to what you get.’ I looked & was like ‘wow’. But on the flip side social media got me my dog back after it ran away from a Firework display.”

‘That’s 100% David Brent from Bruce there, amazing quote.’
