Embarrassing claims Newcastle United could sign striker to replace Callum Wilson (again)
Callum Wilson was directly involved in 15 of Newcastle United’s 22 Premier League goals ahead of the win over Southampton last weekend.
Newcastle’s most important player, the striker had scored ten goals and got five assists.
Thirty six minutes into the game with Southampton, Callum Wilson though forced off through injury.
That bit of news sparked an absolutely embarrassing transfer story last Thursday to be published.
Most transfer stories are laughable and clearly made up but that one was really embarrassing, as what they were claiming couldn’t even happen.
Ahead of that win over Southampton, Newcastle United filled all 25 places in their official Premier League squad (see below) for the rest of the season, so they are the only ones who can play in the remaining 15 PL matches. No player can be signed and brought in to play for the rest of the 2020/21 season instead of these 25 senior players, even if they are available as a free agent.
Incredibly, that pile of…nonsense last Thursday, has now been been revisited with a new ‘exclusive’, this time from 90 Min.
Their ‘exclusive’ actually claiming that Newcastle United have been in talks with ‘intermediaries’ to bring in Daniel Sturridge to play for the rest of the season whilst Callum Wilson is out injured.
This is where we have got to, with all of these various media making stories up that not only are clearly pure fabrication…but are stories claiming stuff that simply can’t happen.
As per the shameful Ahmed Musa exclusive last week, Daniel Sturridge can’t play for Newcastle United this season no matter what happens.
Only 31, Daniel Sturridge has been without a club since March 2020 and is indeed a free agent still 11 months later BUT that doesn’t change the fact that Newcastle United have filled all 25 spaces in the official Premier League squad for the rest of the season, they aren’t allowed to now take somebody out and replace them.
