Confirmed Newcastle team v Chelsea – Lascelles, Gayle, Clark, Krafth all start
The Newcastle team v Chelsea has just been confirmed.
Newcastle kicking off their match at Stamford Bridge at 8pm on Monday night.
Steve Bruce hoping to improve on a record of two wins and ten defeats (and two draws) in the last fourteen games.
Newcastle United have though won two of their last three, holding on against Southampton in that incident-packed game last weekend.
Chelsea come into the game on the back of four straight wins under new manager Thomas Tuchel, after his first game ended 0-0 against Wolves. Only one goal conceded in these five matches, though Chelsea have only scored six in the five games themselves,
Steve Bruce confirmed ahead of the match that Callum Wilson, Javier Manquillo and Fabian Schar are all set to be missing for the next couple of months, having picked up injuries against Southampton.
Meanwhile, Jeff Hendrick is suspended after his daft sending off against the Saints, leaving the referee with no option but to give a second yellow for a pull of the shirt to stop an opponent getting away from him.
The confirmed Newcastle team v Chelsea:
Darlow, Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Lewis, Willock, Hayden, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin, Almiron, Gayle
Four changes from the team that started in the win against Southampton last weekend:
Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Gayle
Manquillo, Schar, Hendrick, Wilson
Dubravka, Dummett, Matty Longstaff, Carroll, Joelinton, Ritchie, Fraser, Murphy, Sean Longstaff
