Steve Bruce confirms 3 players set to miss Sheffield United but 2 coming back if no Wednesday setback

Interesting update from Steve Bruce ahead Thursday night.

Newcastle United facing a tough test away at Bramall Lane.

The NUFC Head Coach already has Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie out until after the new year.

Steve Bruce confirming that Florian Lejeune is also set to miss Thursday night as his return to first team football has to be carefully managed, Bruce saying; ‘I had a conversation with him (Florian Lejeune) a week ago to say in my experience, when you have had two big injuries, the longer he trains the better physically and mentally he becomes.’

On Tuesday, images released by the club showed DeAndre Yedlin and Andy Carroll amongst the players training.

The defender having missed the Manchester City game with a hip flexor problem.

Whilst Andy Carroll wasn’t available last Saturday due to a rib injury.

On Wednesday, Steve Bruce has now confirmed that both players should be available tomorrow night, just so long as there is no setback in training on Wednesday afternoon.

Steve Bruce talking to BBC Newcastle and asked whether Carroll and Yedlin are available:

“As we speak now, they’ve got an outstanding chance.

“We’re just about to train now before we go down there.

“They trained yesterday and as long as there’s no real setbacks, they’ve got a chance.”

That Manchester City game and result:

“The supporters could see the players gave everything they possibly could and that’s all supporters want to see.

“To get rewarded with a wonderful finish from Jonjo was fitting.

“All to play for – we’re in the mix, we’re in that group – we can be quite pleased because we’re going along quite OK, at the minute.

“But there’s a long way to go and a very difficult month ahead.”
