Sean Dyche Newcastle press conference – Hopes to welcome back 2 key players and talks Bruce and Mourinho

Sean Dyche has been speaking ahead of the game at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Burnley are looking for a win to take them away from near the relegation zone.

Only three points above third bottom, it shows just how tight it is for most of the Premier League (only nine points from 5th to 18th) when a Burnley win would take them only a point behind Newcastle.

The Clarets had a good start to the season with 12 points and only two defeats in the opening eight games, only for them to go in reverse, losing six matches and only picking up six points in these last eight games.

Burnley have lost all of their last three games, conceding 11 goals and only scoring one.

Sean Dyche at his pre-Newcastle United press conference:

Player availability:

“Ashley Barnes and Ashley Westwood trained (today) and we will see how they react to that.

“Charlie Taylor is touch and go but we’ll probably go on the side of caution (for this Newcastle game).

“I believe in all of the players.

“I am disappointed that we haven’t performed as well as we would have liked (with key players missing due to injury).

“We want to improve the detail, the anticipation and the understanding in the team.

“It is a tough call (when players are coming back after injury), player instincts are to play.

“I have to make the call as a manager.”

On Steve Bruce:

“He is very decent and I wouldn’t doubt him as a manager.

“Top fella both on and off the pitch.

“He knows his stuff and is very humble.

“In my opinion one of the best around.”

Losing 5-0 at Spurs last Saturday:

“I bumped into Jose Mourinho the day (Sunday) after the game and he said they were good.

“I said we weren’t, so we were both right.”
