Premier League relegation odds – All change after Newcastle United win at Sheffield United

Interesting to see how the Premier League relegation odds are looking after this latest round of games, Newcastle winning at Sheffield United after an interesting 90 minutes.

Before the season started, the bookies made Newcastle United a comfortable mid-table finisher.

However, after 15 games it is interesting to see how they view it now, only 20 days before we reach the halfway point.

This is how the Premier League table now looks on Friday after Newcastle’s win at Bramall Lane on Thursday and the conclusion of this round of PL fixtures:

As we enter this stage of the season, the concentrated number of matches means that things can change very quickly.

After Newcastle’s defeat at Aston Villa 11 days ago, Watford and Norwich were seen pretty much as write-offs with then Southampton (7/4) and Newcastle (9/4) the most likely to fill the third relegation spot.

Since then, Southampton (now 3/1) have beaten both Watford and Norwich, whilst Newcastle (now 4/1) got that bonus point v Man City and won last night at Sheff Utd.

This has seen Aston Villa (now 5/2) drop back down to be third favourites for the drop, even though they are only fifth bottom in the Premier League, as they are in the middle of a tough fixture schedule.

Despite the four points from two games, it looks massive game for Newcastle as they take on Southampton on Sunday. Steve Bruce’s team still not convincing the bookies they aren’t in the relegation battle.

Interesting that despite the defeat and only being on the same number of points, Sheffield United are 10/1 outsiders for relegation compared to NUFC at 4/1.

With only two wins and eight defeats in their last 11 games, Everton are now looking genuine contenders for relegation despite the fortunes they have spent on players in recent times.

The bookies are now thinking this is the case as well, with odds of 6/1 for the drop.

With games against Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal before Christmas, the scouse mackems could be in an interesting position by the time Santa visits.

The current Premier League relegation odds from BetVictor (odds in brackets were after NUFC lost to Aston Villa):

1/4 (4/11) Norwich

2/7 (8/13) Watford

5/2 (11/4) Aston Villa

3/1 (7/4) Southampton

4/1 (9/4) Newcastle United

4/1 (10/3) West Ham

4/1 (6/1) Bournemouth

6/1 (9/1) Everton

7/1 (10/1) Burnley

7/1 (5/1) Brighton

10/1 (8/1) Sheffield Utd

16/1 (6/1) Crystal Palace
