Newcastle v Manchester City player ratings from fans – MOTM, supporting cast and a scapegoat?

The results of the Newcastle v Manchester City player ratings by fans.

Always interested to see what supporters have collectively made of the latest performance, when using our interactive ratings system.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

Dubravka (6.2) was by some distance Newcastle’s man of the match on Monday night at Aston Villa as he kept the score down.

The keeper repeating his top rating on Saturday but scoring 8.3 from fans as he earned Newcastle a valuable point with a succession of excellent saves.

Seven other Newcastle players rated 7.0 or better in the supporting cast.

Goalscorers Willems (8.1) and Shelvey (7.8) next highest as they topped off very good performances with the vital strikes.

Fernandez (7.7) was excellent yet again, whilst Clark (7.4) wasn’t far behind.

Saint-Maximin (7.3) and Almiron (7.2) also appreciated for their workrate and getting the team up the pitch when able to, they also played a part in the build up to one of the two goals.

Isaac Hayden (7.1) completes the list of those with better than average marks, a vital role in the middle of the pitch in front on the defence.

For my money, I think the rating for Joelinton (5.3) is very unfair. I don’t think he was great but he was even more isolated than usual and pretty much every time the ball was played to the Brazilian, he was outnumbered and with zero support.

Also a little harsh maybe on Dummett (6.9) and especially Manquillo (6.7), especially the Spaniard. He did really well against Sterling and wo the free-kick for the second equaliser.

Below are the ratings as voted by Newcastle fans up to 10am Monday:
