Fans choice of Newcastle team v Sheffield United contains some surprises

We asked fans the question, which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle team v Sheffield United?

We put together a list of the 23 players who looked as though they could potentially be selected for this game.

On Wednesday afternoon, Steve Bruce indicated that three players were set to be unavailable.

The Head Coach saying that as well as Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles missing out tonight, the club were going to take it slowly on Florian Lejeune coming back. after two serious injuries so close together.

An interesting selection this time, with choices to be made.

Dubravka getting what is regularly becoming 100% support and leading the way.

Then we have only three others getting 90% or more backing, Willems with 97% and then Saint-Maximin (93%) and Almiron (90%).

Next up the three selected centre-backs of Clark on 84% and Fernandez 7 Schar both with 83%.

As for central midfield, you then have Shelvey (84%) and Hayden (74%). I thought Sean Longstaff (41%) might have made the fans team.

As for the final two to make the team, Manquillo (50%) keeps Yedlin (41%) out of the side

Whilst up front, Dwight Gayle (42%) just squeezes in a whisker ahead of Paul Dummett (also 42%) Joelinton (41%) just behind, whilst minimal support for Carroll (22%) and Muto (5%).

This is how the Newcastle team v Sheffield United looks based on the fan votes with suggested formation from the 11 picked, then the percentage votes (rounded up/down to nearest whole number) for each of the 23 players.
