West Ham 2 Newcastle 3 – Instant NUFC fan/writer reaction to Saturday’s win

West Ham 2 Newcastle 3 – Saturday 2 November 3pm

We asked a number of our regular writers to give us a brief instant reaction after the final whistle.

Newcastle winning at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Jamie Smith:

“Let’s just all be canny and say that this is a brilliant result eh?

“I know we were 3-0 up and it should have been 5 and we ended up hanging on for dear life but this was a solid away win with some inspirational performances from players who needed a boost.

“If we can keep it up next week we can make a major step up the table.”

Paul Patterson:

“A welcome win but we nearly threw it away.”

Jamie Swan:

“Humongous 3 away points.

“Didn’t fancy us in the slightest pre match.

“Bruce needs to play the back three up front!

“Typically clinging on in the end.

“Going to get hammered. Adios.”

David Punton:

“Well that’s a win I wasn’t expecting.

“I will definitely take that even if we let them get back to 2-3.

“Bruce, like some of his predecessors, getting off the hook with wins just when he looks a busted flush.”

Jack Lacey-Hatton:

“Should have been a much healthier scoreline but who cares!

“Should have wrapped it up in the first half, they were awful, but much to take encouragement from.

“Our centre backs again led the way.

“We needed 4 points minimum from today and next week (Bournemouth at home0 and now we can get 6, that is all that matters.”

Nat Seaton:

“Didn’t see this coming…

“Typical us at the end, conceding 2 goals and making it a bit nervy but thankfully we had 3 in the bank (for once) to give us a brilliant away win.

“A great day and now off for a great night out in London to celebrate!!!”

Steve Hickey:

“Phew, we always do things the hard way, 3-0 should always be a safe lead.

“Not to worry, a great away win, very much needed.

“The central defenders just keep on delivering.”
