Very surprising Newcastle United player tops the stats when it comes to tackle success
A surprise Newcastle United player has been named in new analysis as ahead of all his NUFC teammates when it comes to tackling.
The report analyses how many tackles have been made by each player and how many times they have been dribbled past.
That then producing a ‘tackle success’ percentage.
The table relates to all players who don’t play for any of the ‘big six’ clubs and no surprise to see both Isaac Hayden and Fabian Schar featuring.
Schar has the 18th best stats of players for the other 14 clubs, a tackle success of 67% thanks to 22 tackles made and 11 times dribbled past.
Whilst Hayden is 20th and has 63% success, 26 tackles made and 15 times dribbled past.
However, it is Jetro Willems who surprisingly is the top NUFC player, ninth top with 73% tackle success – 22 tackles made and only eight times dribbled past.
The Dutch left wing-back has always been more known for his attacking player rather than defensive ability.
A table has now been published by ‘The Other 14’ (who specialise on stats/tables etc on the 14 clubs who aren’t the ‘Big Six’) which shows the most successful Premier League players when it comes to tackle success.
