We asked fans the question, which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle team v Aston Villa?

We put together a list of the 23 players who looked as though they could potentially be selected for this game.

On Friday morning, Steve Bruce indicated that three players were definitely ruled out.

The Head Coach saying that Matt Ritchie and Jamaal Lascelles are out injured, whilst Sean Longstaff is suspended.

He also said that Ciaran Clark is a doubt, though we in included him amongst the 23 options.

Some very strong messages within the fans response this time.

Both Allan Saint-Maximin and Martin Dubravka getting 100% fan support.

Whilst Miguel Almiron is repeatedly targeted by the media, he was next highest with 95% backing.

Four other players got 90% or more support – Willems 95%, Schar 92%, Yedlin 91% and Hayden 90%.

Shelvey 87%, Fernandez 81% and Joelinton 77% were choices 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.

The final decision for third centre-back, with Clark 57%, ahead of Lejeune 40% and Dummett 28%.

In this three/five man defence, fans don’t seem to see Dummett as strong an option as others, whilst once Lejeune starts regularly showing in the squad, support for him from fans is sure to grow as he regains full fitness.
