Steve Bruce asked if Alan Shearer is going to come in and help Newcastle United strikers

Steve Bruce has been put on the spot when quizzed about Alan Shearer.

Newcastle’s front three have scored only one goal between them in a combined 45 Premier League appearances for NUFC.

To say goalscoring is a problem for Newcastle’s attacking players is understatement of the season, NUFC having only been kept afloat so far thanks to a helping of luck and defenders popping up with so many goals, from very few chances.

So what better than having the Premier League’s greatest ever striker and Newcastle United’s record goalscorer brought in to help/coach them?

Steve Bruce has been asked if that is going to happen….

The NUFC Head Coach gave a politician’s answer.

Bruce choosing to ‘answer’ the question by saying there is no problem with the coaching of Newcastle United’s strikers, that they regularly go off to one side in training for specialist coaching and it is ‘not a problem’ what happens with them in training.

Steve Bruce also talks about the failure to create enough chances as having been a significant issue so far.

Well Alan Shearer could surely pass on a few tips on that front as well!

The truth of course is that Steve Bruce would absolutely love Alan Shearer to come in and help him, for all kinds of reasons, but he cannot say that.

Shearer could only be a massive help in assisting the NUFC strikers and at the same time would give Bruce instantly more credibility with Newcastle fans.

The bottom line though is that there is zero chance of Alan Shearer ever working for Mike Ashley again, after the way the NUFC owner treated him and his disgraceful running of the football club Shearer loves.

I would be absolutely amazed if Steve Bruce hasn’t already asked Alan Shearer the question BUT there are some things even your best mates won’t do for you.

Indeed, I would be surprised if on the quiet Rafa Benitez didn’t also ask Alan Shearer about getting involved when he stayed after relegation in 2016, though obviously the response would have been the same.

Steve Bruce asked by the media on Friday if Alan Shearer could come in coach Newcastle United strikers?

“As I said…

“When you work with strikers on the training ground and what they have got.

“All week (the) six strikers (regularly) go away to the side and practise their drills and all the rest of it.

“Not a problem.

“The problem is in creating the chances as well in the Premier League, especially against the big teams, that will be the case tomorrow (against Manchester City) as well.

“Let’s hope one of them can produce a bit of magic, which they are capable of, and score a goal.

“What I have got at my disposal, I have been quite happy with.

“The performances of Almiron in particular.

“I think he has got the best physical data.

“He works so hard for the team it’s incredible, which for me, is what it is all about.”
