Newcastle United star included in newspaper’s worst Premier League team of the season – Pathetic

With three and a half months of the season gone, one newspaper has named the ‘worst’ Premier League eleven.

Or as they put it, the ‘Biggest Flops’ eleven.

As usual with these type of things, proper research is a bit thin on the ground.

The usual path that is followed is one of just regurgitating lazy opinions that are already circulating.

No surprise then to see which Newcastle United player they have picked out…

The Star article choosing….

‘Miguel Almiron

Newcastle playmaker Almiron impressed in his opening stint last season following the January switch from the MLS. He doesn’t seem to be suiting Steve Bruce’s style too well this time out though.’

The full Premier League team they have picked is below.

It is interesting that the vast majority of Newcastle fans don’t go along with this lazy opinion.

Yes, just like Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron has to start getting his fair share of goals and assists BUT he has been a major factor in the points Newcastle have picked up this season.

Interesting to see that ahead of the Villa match, when The Mag polled NUFC fans on who should be in the starting eleven, only Dubravka and Saint-Maximin were more popular choices, with 95% of supporters selecting Miguel Almiron.

The Star ‘expert’ flop Premier League eleven:

‘Premier League’s worst team of the season – the biggest flops so far XI

The Premier League has seen some players produce some inspired form – but what about those who aren’t quite living up to expectations?

Angus Gunn (Southampton)

Kiko Femenia (Watford)

Issa Diop (West Ham)

Ben Godfrey (Norwich)

Ryan Bertrand (Southampton)

Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal)

Granit Xhaka (Arsenal)

Pablo Fornals (West Ham)

Miguel Almiron (Newcastle United)

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

Moise Kean (Everton)
