Newcastle United interesting in signing Mohammed Salisu – Report
Mohammed Salisu is a target for Newcastle United according to reports today.
The 20 year old arrived at Real Valladolid as an 18 year old from his native Ghana back in 2017.
The 6ft 3 central defender played 39 times for the Spanish club’s reserve side over the past two seasons, only making a La Liga bench as an unused sub four times last season, although he was given two starts in the Spanish Cup.
However, this season, Mohammed Salisu has featured in all 13 of Real Valladolid’s La Liga matches, starting 12 of them.
In May the central defender signed a new contract securing him until end of June 2022.
However, it contains a release clause of 12m euros (approx £10.2m).
According to Pucela Fichajes, Real Valladolid are considering trying to extend the player’s contract with an enhanced deal, with a higher release clause to be inserted no doubt. However, the report says the club accept that if any of the clubs follow up with a solid offer in the January transfer window, it could be difficult to persuade the player to stay, although they are adamant the won’t sell for less than the release clause figure.
