Matty Longstaff beats Martial, Silva and Rodriguez to Match of The Day accolade
Voting concluded on Sunday night for the Match of The Day October goal of the month accolade.
There were seven contenders in all, including Adama Traore, David Silva and Anthony Martial, as well as Newcastle United’s Matty Longstaff.
The NUFC midfielder nominated for his superb winner against Man Utd four weeks ago.
The public vote ended and the result was announced live on MOTD 2 on Sunday night.
Matty Longstaff coming out on top with 22% of the vote, just ahead of Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez for a goal against Chelsea.
The rest were pretty much nowhere, the next highest vote share being 13% with Silva, Sigurdsson and Martial all getting the same backing from the public.
