Manchester City fans comments before Newcastle – I’m sure they were happier when they were rubbish!

I always enjoy reading comments from Manchester City fans these days.

It always appears to be the case that the more money and better players that are brought in, the more they have to moan about it.

It often feels like they were happier when they were rubbish, that winning trophies and watching great football, great teams, is more of a burden than a pleasure for them.

On Saturday it is a trip to Newcastle United and some very amusing comments from the Manchester City fans below.

Yes they may not be quite hitting the heights of last season but they have only lost three of twenty games this season and have scored a massive 55 goals, including 37 in 13 Premier League games.

They have also won four of their last five PL games and the defeat was to Liverpool, on a day when Man City had more and better chances but Liverpool stuck everything away.

The majority are doom and gloom about Saturday and especially fear Allan Saint-Maximin, with even Andy Carroll feared by a fair few.

Even the odd optimistic one thinks they will win because Newcastle are so bad, not because Man City are any good.

Manchester City fans comment via their Blue Moon message board:

‘Another laboured performance tonight (1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk). Feel like we need to shake things up a bit.

I’d like to see us go with the following XI, but realise there is little chance of that.

Newcastle looked poor against Villa too, but will be a different proposition at home I’m sure.

Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy, Fernandinho, Foden, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Jesus.’

‘The players are playing like they just met, is now the time to stop rotating before it gets really busy?

Let them find a rythmn, other teams don’t change their defence every game, it’s annoying me now.’

‘Unfortunately stones and Otamendi are a car crash together at CB it’s a no no…’

‘Last two months the performances have been a concern.

We look really predictable going forward and our pressing when losing the ball is a clear drop off.

Big month ahead we have to try and stay at least single figure points behind.’

‘I can see this one being a banana skin.

They will park the bus and try to hit us on the break and given how we’ve been playing they are likely to get a goal.

Our opponents look like scoring with nearly every attack! It’s not an easy place to play if they get the crowd behind them and the best thing to do is get an early goal to finish them off.’

‘Not looking forward to this if I’m honest.

Would anybody be surprised if we dropped points the way we are playing?

‘We need to give Sterling a rest for this one. His body might be OK but his mind is not there anymore.

We will need him fresh for the big three December games.’

‘He’s one yellow away from a suspension. Needs to get it this weekend so he’ll be in the clear for United, Arsenal, Leicester, etc.’

‘They just got beat by Aston bloody Villa.

A Steve Bruce side vs a Guardiola side.

City by three.’

‘I am already having nightmares about that lightning fast forward of theirs running at our slow midfield and defence. He makes Traore look slow.’

‘We got an early goal in the first minute and still contrived to lose this game last season !!

No idea which Pep team is going to turn up for games this season so anything is possible!

Really poor team performance tonight after a largely poor game v Chelsea. We look bereft of ideas and Plan A isn’t working!

Think we need to start managing expectations for this season as Peps assurance that the best is yet to come looks way out.

Too many players look a shadow of what they were last season.’

‘Wouldn’t be surprised to see Andy Carroll getting a start, especially with us not having much height. Or, maybe he’s only a bit part player anymore?

We are in a bad way coming up on a very long stretch of a game every few days for weeks.

Time for the players to grit their teeth and gut it out. Newcastle is the easiest game of the bunch, but thankfully, with the Oxford game and CL dead rubber in there, Pep and the small squad can concentrate on the PL.

However, Newcastle away, Burnley away and Utd at home is a single week where we can either push on strong or it could be a complete disaster!

‘The Newcastle game – the negativism on here is like we better skip this one and hand over the three points and title.

And you get the feeling people get a bit fed up with Pep as well.’

‘Going to be more of the same against the Bar Codes, packed defence with us messing about.

Then dropped bo..ock by midfielder or defender and they get gifted a chance against the run of play.

The current problems within our team can not be corrected in a few days.’

‘With our current form and injuries this has lacklustre draw written all over it.’

‘We should manage to scrape wins against Newcastle and Manure but it’s Burnley that really scares me with their height up front.’

‘Newcastle’s only threat seems to be from set pieces and counter attacks.’

‘As bad as Newcastle are, I can see us dropping points if Pep doesn’t shake things up a bit.

I’m hoping for De Bruyne, Fernandinho and Foden/Bernardo in midfield but I doubt it will happen. A pairing of Merlin/Gundogan and Rodri is asking for trouble.’

‘If I was Newcastle I would just get that fast player running at us causing chaos and drawing free kicks. Carroll in the middle, job done.’

‘Ffs every game is a tough one these days. This one too. Cmon blues dig in, don’t give up!’

‘Prediction is 2-1 Newcastle.’

‘If we can’t beat this Newcastle team we might as well knock it on the head.

Let’s get to within 6 of the scousers before they kick off and hope Brighton can pull off a performance.’

‘Thank god for that someone on here who is talking sense.

Newcastle can’t hit a barn door you could play me and my granny at the back and they wouldn’t score.

Get real these are largely the same players who won the league last season and you don’t become poor overnight.

Have faith for we shall overcome!’

‘Where’s everyone going for an early beer, heard there is a boozer near the train station opens early, any ideas?’

‘There is a pub on the station which is decent and accross from central station you have the Forth Inn and Town Wall pubs (side road by the subway food outlet) which are very good and both serve food.

If you want to get up close to the ground behind the away end you have the Black Bull (just past the esso station on leazes lane) which is a dump but the beer is okay and 3 minutes to the leazes end.’
