An eventful day in the Premier League on Saturday.

Plenty of surprises and controversy as Newcastle United watch on.

Monday night’s televised match at Aston Villa meaning a very long 16 days between fixtures for NUFC.

There are have been seven Premier League results on Saturday (Man City v Chelsea coming up at 5.30pm).

Things were looking to be tightened up significantly at the very bottom with two of the bottom three winning.

Norwich 2-0 victors at Everton and Southampton winning 2-1 at Arsenal, only for the Saints to miss several late chances and then concede in the 96th minute.

Results so far on Saturday 23 November:

West Ham United 2 Tottenham 3

Arsenal 2 Southampton 2

Bournemouth 1 Wolves 2

Brighton 0 Leicester 2

Crystal Palace 1 Liverpool 2

Everton 0 Norwich 2

Watford 0 Burnley 3

This is how the Premier League now looks at 5pm on Saturday:

So even if Newcastle lose on Monday, they will be still five points clear of the relegation zone and can’t drop any places.

Whilst a win at Villa Park would guarantee Newcastle moving into ninth place and eight points clear of the bottom three.

Matches still to be played this weekend:

Saturday 23 November

Manchester City v Chelsea (5.30pm)

Sunday 24 November

Sheffield United v Man Utd (4.30pm)

Monday 25 November

Aston Villa v Newcastle (8pm)
