Eddie Howe can’t believe that Bournemouth got beat by Newcastle and says it will hurt for weeks
Eddie Howe watched on as his team dominated from kick-off at St James Park.
Going close a couple of times before a brilliant training ground routine left Newcastle like statues, a corner kick move with rapid passing and a sweet finish from Harry Wilson.
Some great chances to extend the lead, dominating possession, by far the better team in the first half. What could possibly go wrong?
Yet after 52 minutes Eddie Howe saw his team fall behind.
Yedlin and Clark willing to put the yards in and gamble, as luck and fortunate goals fell their way.
Eddie Howe reflecting after the final whistle: ‘This result will really hurt for the next two weeks.’
No wonder, Bournemouth were in control and would have went fifth with a win.
Instead he is left to wonder: ‘Hugely frustrated and disappointed. We started so well…’
“Hugely frustrated and disappointed.
“We started so well…
“We looked in a good place but then we made some uncharacteristic errors at a time we were dominating, to give Newcastle the encouragement to get back into the match.
“It got the crowd into the game.
“(Assistant manager) Jason Tindall deserves credit for the routines we do from set plays, we pride ourselves on being innovative and it was a great finish by Harry (Wilson).
“They punished our sloppy mistakes.
“In the end we created chances but did not put them away.
“We had the initiative of the game but gave it away.
“I felt we should have kept the ball better and we need to learn from it.
“We are looking for consistency…backing up a great win with another one.
“Today we missed an opportunity.
“This result will really hurt for the next two weeks.”
