DeAndre Yedlin helps USA to 4-1 revenge on Canada
DeAndre Yedlin found himself instantly recalled by the USA in October, immediately recalled to the national side after he’d played his first Premier League after six months out.
That proved a bit of a disaster for both the Newcastle defender and his international teammates.
Probably not 100% at the time, Yedlin was at fault for the first goal and then subbed, as the USA lost their CONCACAF Nations League match 2-0 to Canada.
The fans and media weren’t impressed, as it was the first time in 18 games that the USA had lost to Canada.
Friday night (early hours of Saturday morning UK time), it was USA hosting Canada in Orlando, Florida with a chance of some revenge.
After that last performance DeAndre Yedlin was benched and watched his teammates go 3-1 up before coming on as a sub in the 86th minute.
Despite his late introduction, Yedlin played key part in the final goal in the 89th minute to make it 4-1 and CBS Sports gave him the joint third highest grade for his contribution, mentioning how the Newcastle player’s pace brought an extra dimension to the USA’s game.
Newcastle fans have seen a rapid progress in DeAndre Yedlin since his comeback after injury, with his display and goal against Bournemouth showing him hitting top form once again.
CBS Sports grades and comments on each player:
DeAndre Yedlin (Grade B):
“The Newcastle defender helped Zardes get his second goal and brought a boost of speed to the game that was missing.”
