West Ham fans experiencing severe case of paranoia ahead of facing Newcastle United

Interesting what West Ham fans are saying ahead of Saturday.

After losing to Man City on the opening day of the season, the Hammers then won three and drew three of their next six games.

However, in the space of only a month or so, paranoia appears to be rife in their fanbase, believing everything and everybody is against them.

The last five games have seen two draws and three defeats including a 4-0 League Cup hammering at Oxford (who beat Sunderland on penalties last night!).

However, it is a great example of how the moods of football fans can change so quickly.

Their mindset now bears no relation to reality.

Many of their fans now expecting Andy Carroll to definitely score against them, even though he didn’t score a single Premier League goal in his final 15 months at West Ham and has scored only three in the past two and a half years.

Not forgetting that he has done absolutely nothing this season for Newcastle, only managed 89 minutes on the pitch and has picked up yet another injury that saw him miss Wolves on Sunday.

Some West Ham fans are even seeing Newcastle being so terrible this season as another reason why the Hammers are sure to do badly on Saturday!

West Ham fans commenting via their Knees Up Mother Brown message board:

‘I think Bruce may see this as a chance to settle the natives and actually attempt to get out of their own half.

That’ll bode well for us.’

‘Anyone else putting Newcastle players in their Fantasy Football team?

Andy Carroll (if playing) nailed on to score.’

‘Sean Longstaff will be a big loss for them after seeing red vs Wolves, looks a very good player.

Having said that Jonjo Shelvey will probably come in for him and no doubt assist an Andy Carroll winner now!’

‘As soon as it’s confirmed that Carroll is on the bench, I’m selling a kidney to fund a score anytime bet

In all honesty this is a better time for them to play us than it is for us to play them.’

‘My interest has dipped severely recently.

But seeing our form drop off a cliff, this match will be like watching a car crash unfold.

2 cr.p teams, 0-0 and back of the queue on MOTD.’

‘Club always saying games sold out (at weeekend the official crowd was 59,878), so Why are there so many empty seats every home game then? I doubt there was many more than 45k for Saturdays game.’

‘Same as most weeks, empty seats are season ticket holders who don’t turn up for whatever reason.

Half term at the moment so holidays impacting on parents who take kids.’

‘Play with urgency against Newcastle and we will win comfortably.

Play with this slow build up play like we did against Sheff Utd and I can see another draw at best.’

‘I just can’t see us beating anyone at the moment. We look utterly clueless.

And that’s something I never thought I’d be saying with Pellers as manager.’

‘Newcastle don’t look much but have some pace and a few good players. they will frustrate us as we go side to side.

If they score first then I fear we will get sunk by a few more breakaway goals.

A must win game especially with the fixtures coming up.’

‘My main concern is Newcastle have several players who have failed so far this season.

Almiron has failed to score or create a chance. (hat-trick)

Joelinton looks like a championship striker (2 goals).

Jonjo Shelvey can’t hold down a regular place (30 yard screamer).

Unfit andy carroll limps off bench to score late header.’

‘The barcodes look cr.p at the moment.

Surely we should be strolling to a home win?

Surely…’

‘No need to make such drastic changes against a team struggling like they are.

If they play like they normally do and give us lots of time on the ball we will 3-0.

If they watch our past 3 matches and harass us, i hope we are more prepared to deal with releasing the ball quicker and helping each other out in midfield.’

‘Not expecting a win in this, it will be a draw.

However if the barcodes pony tailed assassin formally known as our No.9 resident sick-note scores a winner for them I may just explode!!!!

It going to happen………just know it!!!!!!!’

‘I’m not sure we’ve even got enough to beat the Geordies. Another draw I think.’

‘If we adopt a radical new approach to our attacking strategy whereby we attempt to kick the ball in the direction of the opposition’s goal rather than trying to walk the ball over the goal line then perhaps we stand a chance.’

‘We have no identity or players that care.

They are all journeymen apart from noble and rice. Noble wouldn’t get in a top 10 side and Rice will no doubt be off after another poor season.

Anderson, lanzini, wilshere, yarmolenko, haller all on big money for f all!’

Newcastle look like complete relegation fodder to date this season, so I wouldn’t say this is must win for us but it’s 100% should win.

‘Doubtless we’ll start with the same midfield that just played, fail to create anything, then see Haller criticised for not doing enough when he’s getting nothing but long balls to head down.’
