This is the Joselu we all came to know and love – What a miss! (Video)
Joselu very much summed up the brief Rafa Benitez Premier League era.
The manager starved of proper backing by Mike Ashley after promotion and desperately needing a striker to try and help make the transition back to the Premier League.
The NUFC owner saying here’s £5m, go and fill your boots!
Rafa filled his boots from the Stoke reserve team, investing the cash on Joselu.
It didn’t take a genius to work out that this signing was more Riviere than Shearer.
Joselu arriving at St James Park, never having scored double figures in a top flight league season.
To be fair to him, the Spaniard (born in Germany) played a decent part in the 2017/18 campaign but he was clearly not a goalscorer.
In 46 Premier League appearances (24 starts, 22 off the bench) the striker scored six goals.
When he left for £2m in the summer I think pretty much all Newcastle fans wished him well.
Joining Spanish minnows Alaves for a crack at La Liga.
In his first six La Liga starts this season, Joselu scored three goals!
However, last weekend we saw more the Joselu we came to know and love at Newcastle.
Watch the footage below as he somehow misses from a yard out (0.07) and puts an easy chance wide when through with only the keeper to beat (1.07), there was also a simple header he failed to finish (not included on these particular highlights).
Alaves still won the game 2-0 against Celta Vigo and are a decent 14th at the moment, so good luck to Joselu and his new club for the rest of the season.
Alaves are away at Villarreal tonight so the perfect time for Joselu to get his shooting boots back on.
