Sky Sports announce Andy Carroll and Fabian Schar both injured with five unavailable to start v Wolves

Andy Carroll is now injured.

Qualifying as perhaps the least surprising headlines of this season, the striker won’t be available on Sunday.

Sky Sports reporting that Andy Carroll picked up a groin injury in his brief spell as a sub at Stamford Bridge.

Whilst he will miss the Wolves match, it is hoped that he could be available for the visit to his old club West Ham in nine days time.

However, personally I wouldn’t even bet with your money on that one coming true.

For those who thought Andy Carroll was a pointless signing and PR stunt, with a belief that Newcastle instead needed to bring in at leas two fit and reliable goalscorers, there has been nothing to convince otherwise so far.

Over a third into the season after this weekend and only 89 minutes as a sub where he has had no impact on any game – not good.

On top of that, Sky Sports say it is a knee ligaments injury that Fabian Schar has suffered. They say he will miss Wolves as well but no idea as to how serious, or not, the problem is.

With Isaac Hayden suspended and both Lejeune and Ritchie back in training but Steve Bruce saying not fit enough to be considered this weekend, the number on the missing list is growing once again.
