Premier League relegation odds change after Newcastle United lose at Chelsea
Interesting to see how the Premier League relegation odds are looking after this latest round of games, Newcastle losing to Chelsea.
Before the season started, the bookies made Newcastle United a comfortable mid-table finisher.
However, after nine games, their verdict had very much changed.
Dropping back into the bottom three after the results on Saturday the bookies make Newcastle joint second favourites to go down.
Newcastle are 11/10, the same as Watford, with Norwich the very lowest price at 8/11, despite a decent goalless away draw at Bournemouth.
This is how the Premier League table now looks on Sunday night after Newcastle’s defeat at Chelsea, Sheffield United are at home to Arsenal on Monday night:
Of the clubs now in the bottom half, of the nine that have already played this weekend, seven of them won or drew, only Brighton and Newcastle lost their games.
If Sheffield United did beat Arsenal on Monday, then I think certainly the bookies would move their odds out and to an extent isolate ourselves, Watford and Norwich as very much the likely clubs to go down.
Steve Bruce has claimed that Newcastle should find it easier to pick up points in the next few games because they are against clubs, according to him, that NUFC will be in and around this season, but the bookies don’t really see them in danger of relegation, with Wolves 25/1, West Ham 12/1 and Bournemouth 6/1.
The current Premier League relegation odds from BetVictor:
11/10 Newcastle United
13/8 Sheffield Utd
11/4 Aston Villa
7/1 Crystal Palace
12/1 West Ham
