NUFC fans taunted with ‘Where’s your famous atmosphere?’ by media after Newcastle 1 Wolves 1
If there was one thing worse than Steve Bruce’s ridiculously over the top negative tactics in Newcastle 1 Wolves 1, it was the atmosphere.
I say atmosphere…but it was non-existent.
The only noise for 95% of the match coming from the 3,235 wolves fans.
The official attendance showed only 46,019, meaning at the very most there were under 43,000 Newcastle fans inside St James Park, which included corporate ticket sales as well.
Birmingham Live report after Newcastle 1 Wolves 1:
“Where’s your famous atmosphere?
The life seems to have been sucked out of Newcastle’s once vociferous fanbase.
“Even when Wolves trailed Newcastle it was the 3,162 guys and gals from the Black Country making all the noise inside St James’ Park.
“Attendances at St James’ Park rarely dip below 50,000 but the turnout for the match with Wolves was just 46,019.
“Those who bothered to turn up could only contribute to a particularly flat atmosphere and locals suggest Sunday’s silent mode is becoming a regular thing at a stadium once famed for its raucous atmosphere.”
