Aaron Cresswell (WHU 2-0 MUN) 22 Sep
Trent Alexander-Arnold (CHE 1-2 LIV) 22 Sep
N’Golo Kante (CHE 1-2 LIV) 22 Sep
The winner has now been announced on Friday and Willems has missed out.
The official Premier League site announcing:
‘Moussa Djenepo has won the Budweiser Goal of the Month award for his skilful solo winner for Southampton at Sheffield United.
On his first Premier League start, Djenepo used brilliant skill and strength to hold off a Sheff Utd midfielder before beating two defenders and striking past goalkeeper Dean Henderson to secure a 1-0 victory.
It is the second time in a row that the Budweiser Goal of the Month has been scored at Bramall Lane. August’s winner from Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes came there too.
Djenepo’s effort was chosen as the winner by a panel of experts combined with a public vote, beating seven other September contenders.’
With the public vote reported to only make up 10% of the final tally of votes it isn’t exactly supporter-led!
Since promotion in 2017, Fabian Schar (February 2019 v Burnley) is the only Newcastle player to win a Premier League Goal of The Month award.
