Newcastle United Live TV matches – Decision imminent as 10 more games under threat
A further announcement on Newcastle United Live TV matches is scheduled for Friday (11 October).
This is a big one as it covers December and January games, 10 Premier League matches in all in those two months could be affected by Live TV decisions.
The announcement last month for November Live TV games saw two more Newcastle games selected, Aston Villa away and Man City home.
There is a relative respite from games being moved coming up, with three of the next four matches left at their original day/time, only Wolves at home on 27 October and then those Villa and Man City games being affected by Live TV before we get to December.
The December and January games that could be shown on Live TV are (current dates/times below):
December
Tuesday 3 – Sheff United v Newcastle 7.45pm
Saturday 7 – Newcastle v Southampton 3pm
Saturday 14 – Burnley v Newcastle 3pm
Sat 21 – Newcastle v Crystal Palace 3pm
Thursday 26 – Man Utd v Newcastle United 3pm
Sat 28 – Newcastle v Everton 3pm
January
Wed 1 – Newcastle v Leicester 3pm
Sat 11 – Wolves v Newcastle 3pm
Sat 18 – Newcastle v Chelsea 3pm
Tue 21 – Everton v Newcastle 7.45pm
Thing are a little more complicated/different this winter as we already know that the away games at Sheffield United and Man Utd are going to be shown Live. Amazon Prime have the contract to show the two whole Premier League programmes from those two rounds of games, so fans of all 20 clubs will be able to see their games, if of course they have access to Amazon Prime.
However, so far there has been no confirmation of the dates/times of those games so it sounds likely that will come as part of this next big Live TV games announcement which is due on Friday (although they delayed the previous one by three days for some unknown reason). The two Amazon Prime games look very likely to stay on those (3rd and 26th December) dates but it has been reported that the Boxing Day games could be set to be moved to various times to give Amazon Prime a wider spread of matches and viewers).
With nine of the 14 games up to the end of November selected for Live TV, interesting to see how many more of Newcastle’s other eight PL games in December/January will join Sheff Utd and Man Utd as NUFC live broadcast matches.
