Newcastle United confirm on Wednesday one player back in training and another in light training
In four days time Newcastle United take on Manchester United.
Newcastle desperate to be out of the relegation zone as we head into the international break, whilst the 10th placed visitors are equally desperate in not wanting to drop into the bottom half of the table.
Earlier today it was reported that Steve Bruce will be missing at least five players at the weekend.
Matt Ritchie not ready to return, as is also the case with Jonjo Shelvey.
Whilst the suspended Isaac Hayden and long-term missing Florian Lejeune & Dwight Gayle are also set to play no part.
However, some slightly better news on Wednesday lunchtime from the club.
Releasing video footage on social media of this morning’s training, they say that Dwight Gayle has returned to light training.
The striker has had a calf problem for months and the latest we were told was that he was having a period of total rest, to try and get to the bottom of the problem. So with him back in light training now, hopefully he can make some significant progress now, especially with a two week international break coming up.
Better news again is that the club say Jetro Willems is now back in full training, a knock to his knee seeing the Dutchman ruled out at Leicester.
Steve Bruce said he had no option but to go to a back four on Sunday due to Willems’ (and Ritchie’s) absence but at least that option i snow there again with the loan left wing-back set to be available.

As you can see from the footage above, Allan Saint-Maximin is training normally and hopefully will be ok to start against Manchester United, whilst Florian Lejeune is also there continuing his longer-term recovery back to playing.
