Leaked team v Man Utd would mean desperate Steve Bruce already used 22 Newcastle players in PL

Steve Bruce has constantly changed formation and/or tactics in his time at Newcastle United.

Media, fans and even his own players have questioned what Bruce has been doing, as he desperately searches for a winning formula.

Team selections have gone the same way, the NUFC head coach stumbling around, constantly changing his line-up, hoping to accidentally find a team and formation that works.

Earlier today, Craig Hope of The Mail revealed that he has been told that Steve Bruce is going to surprise everybody and start with Ciaran Clark instead of Paul Dummett and Matty Longstaff alongside brother Sean in central midfield. If so it would signal yet another desperate lurch from Steve Bruce, particularly so when so far he hasn’t even thought either has deserved a minute in the Premier League off the bench.

The man from The Mail also later stated that he understood DeAndre Yedlin and Allan Saint-Maximin are also going to start against Man Utd.

To sum up just how many changes Steve Bruce has made, if these four selections are going to happen, it will mean the head coach will in eight PL matches have already started 20 different players in the league, which including those who have came off the bench, meaning 22 players used in the PL in total.

To put this into perspective, Steve Bruce will have given starts to every single outfield player he has available, with the exception of Fernandez. Gayle and Lejeune have been injured the whole time. The only other players not to feature are keepers Elliot and Darlow. There have of course been injuries but beyond that, Steve Bruce has constantly changed his team out of choice.

This is the entire official Newcastle United senior 25 man Premier League squad with number of PL starts and sub appearances in brackets so far (19 year old Matty Longstaff is an Under 21 player and any of them can play as well as those named in the senior squad):
